This is no joke
Rumsfeld appears to have been learning from the Iraqi information minister. The media have been showing pictures of mass looting going on in Baghdad and other cities. Rumsfeld’s response to this is to insist that the media has grossly exagerated the problem. He’s even making jokes about it. At least the Iraqi minister had a sense of humour and came across as a human being. Rumsfeld seems to have no human feelings whatsoever.
The looting and disorder should have been entirely predictable given that there’s no way there would be enough troops on the ground to try to control it. Rumsfeld’s response to this is simply to say that this is the price of freedom and is a transitional phase. No doubt he’ll be telling us next that it was all part of the plan.
What a despicable human being Rumsfeld is.
