This is an ‘html-only’ version of Scribblings with no database behind it. This means it is not possible to search it. I am working on a new version with which I am hoping to eventually put back into the main site. The new version is here but please note that there is no link directly back to the main site.

It’s helicopter time again

Bah! It’s helicopter time again.

Is there such a thing as a quiet helicopter? I get really fed up during the spring, summer and autumn (i.e. most of the year) when I can leave the window open. The dratted police helicopters come and hover over the covered reservoir opposite my flat apparently doing nothing but shine their bloody searchlight onto one of the hatches.

They sometimes fly round and round in circles while they’re doing this with the result that it goes quiet for a while and you think ‘Ah! They’ve gone!’. But they haven’t. They come back.

I imagine they’re practising but why the hell can’t they do it in a quiet helicopter? As you’ll gather they do this at night. Usually at around one in the morning. Usually just after or just before I’ve fallen asleep.

Is there anything anyone can do about this? Is it legal to shoot one down if it drives you barmy? What would you shoot one down with?

Can someone please design a quiet helicopter?

An apology

Since moving the site to a new server Scribblings is not as easy to find your way around as it used to be. It used to depend on a script and a database on the server but is currently served as ‘flat html’.

I have some ideas about how to make it a bit easier but they depend on writing another script. I hope to get around to it ‘eventually’.
